Valkyrie

We all search for peace. But the only peace that calms the soul, is the one that comes after you made the right decision, no matter how high the costs are. Those are painful, and not everyone is willing to go through that kind of pain. This song, I sing for those who have. The ones who chose to make themselves whole, instead of relying on someone else.

Lyrics & music : N.J. Sardjoe

Took the first train in the morning
I’m coming home
Raindrops they shatter
Like the tears I’ve been shedding
Tracing the steps of an eight year old
For seven long years
I’ve been running away
Hoping that the Southern sun
Could warm away the pain
But oh how could I know
That only the icy cold winds of the North
Could make me embrace my own soul

I open the door to the kitchen
Coffee’s still warm
My mother sits down
And in silence we talk
Words are unspoken
Our eyes say it all
I need to go on
Though the ending is near
But I’m not gonna hold myself back out of fear
But oh! Where will this go?
When the storms and the icy cold winds of the North
Unleash themselves over our home
When the storms and the icy cold winds of the North
Will rage and destroy our home

Sunlight awakens as clouds open up
The wind sings a song that’s been lost for a lifetime
I’m shaking, shivering, fighting
I don’t want to let go
I fall to my knees on the granite so cold
My ancestors welcome me into their home and they
Hold me and whisper their wisdom
Into my soul

It’s time for you to make yourself whole

Waking up to a new morning
The night has been long
Echoes of pain have all faded away
A new dawn’s upon me
Coffee awaits
The cycle is broken, calm is the sea
I wonder what the day will bring
I’m feeling so free
Cause now, now that I know

That only the icy cold winds of the North
Could show me I’ve always been home
That only the icy cold winds of the North
Could teach me that I’ve always been home
